(Scroll down for video) Students from the Grace Brethren Christian School in Maryland, went to the home of their friend to pay their respects after he was killed.

They arrived to his home in the 6200 block of Buckler Road in Clinton, with flowers and handed them to his sister.

The home that was filled with joy the day before, was quiet as 17-year-old Christopher Perry was killed, and his mother is in jail and charged with his murder.

Prince George’s County Police said that they were called to the home, where they found the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was rushed to the hospital, where he died. Witnesses at the home told detectives that Perry was playing video games when his mother thought she heard him using offensive language.

48-year-old Angelique Chase came into the room and ordered a relative to go downstairs. Then she went to get a gun and shot her son.

Chase was initially charged with second-degree murder as she told police that she did not intend to kill her son, but fired at the ground.

However, after speaking to witnesses and investigating the scene, prosecutors had enough evidence to upgrade the charge to first-degree murder.

Perry Jr. was a 12th grader who was doing well in school and he was scheduled to graduate in May.
