(Scroll down for video) Students were shocked to hear that their teacher and assistant principal were killed in a murder suicide.

Police were called to a home in Florida, for a welfare check after a couple did not arrive in court for their divorce hearing.

Officers entered the home and found the bodies of three adults.

Police said that 53-year-old Vincente Fuillerat, was wearing a bulletproof vest, which had a suicide note on it, but they did not disclose what it read.

They also found the body of his estranged wife Lisa, 51, and her lesbian lover, Samara Routenberg, 39.

Police said that Vincente came into the home by breaking a glass sliding door. Routenberg and Lisa armed themselves with guns and shot at him.

However, he was not injured as he was wearing the bulletproof vest. He shot and killed both women at about 6:30 a.m., before turning the gun on himself.

Both women were employed at the Lake Gibson Middle School in Polk County. Lisa was a sixth grade math teacher and Routenberg was an assistant principal.

Vincente and Lisa had been married for 28 years before she filed for divorce 18 months ago. The couple left behind two adult children.
