(Scroll down for video) A family in India, desperately searched for their missing twin boys before they were found submerged in water inside a washing machine.

The two 3-year-old boys, who were named as Neeshu and Naksh, had been left alone in their house in Delhi for just a few minutes, while their mother, Rakhi, went to a nearby store to buy detergent.

When she returned, the mother was unable to find her twins. She asked her neighbors for help and everyone searched for them.

The father of the twins, Ravinder, who was at work at the time, rushed home to help search for them.

After about 30 minutes, someone looked into the washing machine that was filled with about 3 to 4 gallons of water and found the twins inside.

Ravinder rushed his two sons to a nearby hospital at about 12:40 p.m., and doctors declared them dead upon arrival.

Police are trying to determine how the incident occurred. Their initial investigation seems to indicate that the curious boys climbed onto a large pile of clothing to reach the opening of the top loading washing machine before they jumped inside.
