A popular cafe in Austria, announced that they will charge customers a fee for recharging their phones.

Galina Pokorny of Vienna, who is the owner of the Terrassencafe im Hundertwasserhau, said that the fee was introduced after customers spent hours in the restaurant until their devices were fully charged.

Pokorny will allow customers to recharge their phones for 15 minutes with the purchase of a coffee, but beyond that, they will have to pay a fee of about $1.00.

Pokorny stressed that she runs a cafe not an Internet cafe.

Many customers came into the cafe and plugged in their phones like they were in their own homes, and they did not care that electricity costs money.

Customers who recharge more than one device will be charged extra, Pokorny said. Pokorny promised that for the foreseeable future, Internet access will remain free.

A reporter who was charged the fee, took a photo of her bill and uploaded it to Facebook, where it went viral.
