A cruel man killed his neighbor's pet by stomping on its head, according to police in the United Kingdom.
Now, the man has been disqualified from keeping animals for three years after he beat and stomped on a pet dove, leading to the bird’s death.
58-year-old Ian Williams of Geneva Drive, Stoke-on-Trent, appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Monday.
He was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to the dove by subjecting the bird to violence, following a one-day trial.
As well as the ban, Williams was ordered to pay about $1,300 in costs and given a 12-month community order. The court heard that Williams attacked the bird in the garden of his parents’ house in Rosewood Avenue, Stoke-on-Trent.
The dove was the pet of a neighbor. Before the attack, Williams had made it known that he did not like the dove. It was very obvious that the poor bird had been attacked in the most horrific way, police said.
“A post-mortem examination of the dove showed injuries consistent with being beaten with a stick and then stomped on. It is very sad that such a beautiful bird suffered a horrible, painful death.
“Put simply, this was a completely mindless attack and there is absolutely no excuse for it,” Inspector Charlotte Melvin of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) said.
