San Antonio police have arrested 29-year-old Alejandro Chapa and 31-year-old Emmanuel Galindo, after being accused of sexually assaulting multiple women while they believed that they were working in an undercover operation as prostitutes.
In court, the married officers have been convicted of sexual assault, compelling prostitution and official oppression.
According to the criminal complaint, a woman called the Live Oak Police Department and said she had been sexually assaulted by a law enforcement officer.
The victim told investigators that the officer and his friend told her that she could earn up to $5,000 a day if she qualified for a covert operation.
About 25 other women were being told the same story about the fake job opportunity as an undercover agent. Witnesses and follow-up telephone records helped identify Galindo and Chapa as recruiting the women.
Each of them was identified as making false representations in order to persuade these women to have sex with them.
The women then posed as prostitutes in fake undercover operations and the police officers had sex with them in exchange for cash.
One of the women told police that the officers plied her with lots of alcohol and forced her to do pushups in her swimsuit.
Galindo and Chapa, who are both married, are facing years in prison. The police officers’ wives appeared in court and pleaded for leniency for their husbands, saying that they are great fathers.
