(Scroll down for video) A judge in Oregon, is being investigated after being accused of helping an illegal immigrant escape so he cannot be deported.

Judge Monica Herranz was on the bench acting as a court referee for Judge Nan Waller, when the illegal Mexican immigrant came to court.

22-year-old Diddier Pancheco appeared before the judge to plead guilty after he was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) in Multnomah County.

U.S. Attorney Billy Williams said that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were waiting outside the courtroom to take Salazar into custody and possibly deport him.

Salazar was seen entering the courtroom with his lawyer, but after a while when he did not come out, ICE agents went to the courtroom and saw that he was no longer there.

Williams believes that someone took Pancheco out the exit that is used for judges.

According to Williams, Judge Waller wants the courthouse to be off limits to ICE agents so that illegals don’t have to be afraid to come to court.

However, Williams said that he doubts that this will ever happen.

According to his defense attorney John Schlosser, ICE agents eventually located Pancheco and he was arrested.

An internal investigation has been launched into the incident.
