Police in Mississippi, had been called to a home on numerous occasions in recent months for domestic violence incidents.

However, this time, things got out of control when the mother shot her daughter in front of her younger siblings.

36-year-old Cynthia Skipper of Adams County, was put behind bars after deputies said she shot her own daughter.

Skipper is charged with attempted murder and her bail was set at $500,000.

Police were called to the home on Lower Woodville Road, at around 10:00 p.m., on a report of a shooting.

Police found Skipper’s 12-year-old daughter, suffering from a gunshot wound. The child was airlifted to a hospital in Jackson, where she is said to be in stable condition.

Investigators believe that alcohol may have played a role in the incident.

Police said that Skipper and her daughter had an altercation, and when she felt that the girl was being disrespectful, Skipper grabbed a gun and shot her daughter.

The girl was sitting in a reclining chair when her mother shot in her direction. The bullet went through the back of the chair before hitting the girl on the shoulder.

Doctors did not remove the bullet, which became fragmented in soft tissue.

Skipper’s children, who are under 9 years old, were in the home at the time of the shooting.

The Department of Human Services was notified and the children were placed with family members. The 12-year-old girl will also be placed somewhere safe when she is released from the hospital.
