A man took his own life by lying down in front of an oncoming train, according to police in New York.

The New York Police Department said that 20-year-old Rubin Antonio Rodriguez of Brooklyn, wrote a suicide note on his cellphone before killing himself.

The incident unfolded on Wednesday around 2:30 a.m.

Rodriguez lied down on the train tracks as an F train came speeding into the station at Smith and Ninth streets in Carroll Gardens.

The wheels of the train then beheaded Rodriguez. When police arrived at the scene, they found Rodriguez’s head detached from his body.

Police found his cellphone on the platform. They looked it through and found his suicide note. The conductor of the train told police that when he pulled into the station, he notice Rodriguez lying on the tracks.

However, it was too late from him to stop the train before hitting Rodriguez.
