Many people assume that writing a will is for old people.

Others think that they are too young to think about dying. Others feel that if they don’t have money to distribute to family members after their deaths, wills do not apply to them.

However, it is important to write a will even thought we all hope that we will not have to execute it for many more years.

Having a will, puts everything in order as one never knows when their last day will be.

Wills are not only for rich people who have money.

The will lets people know your wishes in case you die or if you are not in a position to make medical decisions if one becomes unconscious during an accident.

People who have children, can choose a guardian who they feel would best care for their children.

This will keep their kids from being dragged through court proceedings until the judge decides who gets custody of them.

For those who have children from different marriages or stepchildren, they may want to be clear as to who gets what from their possessions.

Even if they don’t have a lot of money, spouses and children often times want sentimental items such as jewelry or a car.
Sadly, families get into huge fights over little items after a loved one’s death.

A will makes your wishes very clear. One has a right to distribute their possessions as they see fit, but without a will, families take the fight to court and often times it’s only the lawyers who come out winners as they make a lot of money.

Call an attorney who specializes in wills. They will help you put everything in order. This may be the best gift you leave your loved ones after you are no longer around to keep the peace.
