Parents were shocked to learn that a teacher was arrested for drug trafficking.
Police in Georgia, went to the home of 28-year-old Karla Alvarez, located in the 4000 block of Crawford Oaks Drive in Oakwood, with a warrant to search the house.
Officers said that they found 61 kilograms of cocaine and one kilogram of heroin, which were worth $6.2 million.
They also confiscated two semi-automatic assault rifles.
Officers arrested Alvarez, who is a teacher at the Chestatee Middle School Academy in Gainesville, as well as a soccer coach for a girl’s team.
The teacher’s friend, 24-year-old Monica Pascual Brito, was also arrested.
Hall Sheriff’s Lieutenant Scott Ware said that Alvarez and Brito are facing charges of trafficking and possession with the intent to distribute cocaine and heroin, as well as two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
