Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said that 24-year-old Jeffrey Falsey, asked his mother to go out and buy him some donuts.

Falsey became angry when his mother refused his request. He began arguing with his mother, 63-year-old Susan DiFabbio.

Falsey screamed at his mother over the donuts and about the fact that she allowed her fiance, Dan Kulwicki, 68, who is a registered sex offender, to move into their home.

DiFabbio ran outside to call police when her son, who has mental illness, became violent. When police arrived, the 24-year-old man killed the sex offender and he shot Deputy Michael Ficocelli in the leg.

Ficocelli was taken at a hospital, where he was treated and released. Falsey, who has a history of domestic violence, was arrested on charges including murder.
