(Scroll down for video) A Walmart employee was arrested after temptation got the best of her and she stole money from her employer.
Police in Florida, arrested 32-year-old Xiomara Matias-Cruz, on charges of obtaining property by fraud and grand theft. Her bail was set at $10,000.
According to sheriff's spokesman Andrew Gant, when an employee was counting money from a safe at Walmarts, he noticed that something was not right with one bundle of cash.
The worker found $7,600 in $100 bills, which had a blue line. It had a different thickness and texture the than other money. Upon closer inspection, the worker saw the words “for motion picture use only,” Gant said.
The worker informed a manager, who then wrapped the money in a separate bag and wrote: “do not use,” on it. The manager put it back in the safe.
Later, when a loss prevention officer came to investigate the incident, the counterfeit money was gone.
The store's surveillance video showed that shortly after 6:00 a.m., Matias-Cruz entered the office to count and verify the money in the safe, which she did at the beginning of each shift.
She found the “do not use,” package, opened it, made a phone call and removed the cash.
Matias-Cruz then left the building just 15 minutes after her shift began, Gant said. Police arrested Matias-Cruz at her home.
So far, police did not recover the original $7,600 that she stole or the counterfeit money.
