Burglar breaks leg by jumping off balcony after owner unexpectedly came home

(Scroll down for video) A foolish burglar tried to avoid being caught by jumping off the balcony of a home, according to police in Virginia.

Alexandria police said that they have arrested 21-year-old Leoul Yosef, after being accused of burglarizing a home.

Yosef was charged with one count of burglary.

According to the police investigation, Yosef broke into the apartment on Wednesday, and he was looking to steal valuables.

The owner suddenly came home, and Yosef panicked. Yosef then jumped off the second floor balcony in order to avoid being caught. As a result of the fall, Yosef broke his leg.

He called 911 to ask for help with his broken leg. Meanwhile, the homeowner called police to report that break in. Police managed to match the footprints in the snow outside of the home to the suspect.

Yosef was taken to a hospital for treatment before he was arrested for the burglary.
