A Temple City deputy soon realized that the man had a
Warrant out for his arrest.

The warrant was in connection with a felony sex crime that occurred in the city of Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Joe Mendoza.

As deputies got ready to arrest him, the 47-year-old man ran out to his car and armed himself.

When officers approached the vehicle, the man fired two shots before turning the gun on himself.

The deputies returned fire. Thankfully, they were not injured, but the suspect, who has not yet been named, has died.
It is unclear if he died from his own gunshot or from return fire.

Police said that the suspect was in the process of putting on a SWAT team bullet proof vest when he died. Investigators are trying to determine how he got hold of the vest.
