A boy who loved his dog, died while playing with it outside.

5-year-old John Bruno of Pennsylvania, was playing in the snow with his family’s dog outside of his home in Warrington one afternoon.

At some point, the dog, a 1-year-old hound mix, began to playfully pull on his scarf. The boy fell and passed out.

When his mother, who was inside the home, came to check on him, she saw him lying face down on the ground. The dog was still pulling on the scarf.

She called for help after seeing her son lying unconscious. Bruno was rushed to the Doylestown Hospital, before he was transferred to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Sadly, he could not be saved. His death was ruled accidental. The Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the child died of ligature strangulation.

The family set up a GoFundMe page called John Bruno’s Memorial Fund. They surpassed their $5,000 goal when kindhearted people donated money and left messages in support of the family in their time of distress.

So far, the family raised more the $24,300.

“John Bruno was a vibrant 5-year-old boy. His smile and boundless energy was electric. He loved Ninja Turtles, Pokemon, Superheroes and being silly. Above all else, John loved his mom, dad, and big sister,” the family wrote on GoFundMe.
