An elderly man of New York, was arrested for stealing an ambulance and drove it to 7-Eleven.

Police in Long Island, said that 83-year-old Donald Winkler, was arrested after leaving a hospital and stealing the ambulance.

Winkler told police that he was upset with the quality of care he was receiving at the Nassau University Medical Center, so he decided to check himself out.

He walked out of the hospital at around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Winkler then spotted an ambulance in the hospital parking lot that had the keys in the ignition so he got inside and drove away.

He drove to a nearby 7-Eleven, where he told an employee about the actions. The employee offered him a coffee and food in hopes that it will keep him there until police arrived.

The plan worked and Winkler was arrested at the 7-Eleven. He was taken back to the same hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

He was then booked into jail on a charge second-degree theft. His bail was set at $3,000.
