A woman thought that bringing a Bible to prison would not raise suspicions to her illegal act.

Police in Mississippi, said that the woman entered the lobby of the Lee County Sheriff Department, with items including a Bible, to be given to her boyfriend who was locked up in the prison.

The items were taken by Detention Officers. However, one item caught their attention. Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said that there was a bulge in the back cover of the Bible.

Officers cut open the back cover of the Bible, where they found meth.

After reviewing surveillance videos, officers identified the woman who dropped the Bible off at the station.

A warrant was issued for 30-year-old Courtney M. Ford, and she was arrested later that day. Ford is currently out on bail on a previous bond for possession of a controlled substance.

While awaiting trial for that case, Ford was arrested again for bringing the drugs into prison for her boyfriend.

Police also added charges for inmate Stephen Jason Estes, 41, who was the intended recipient of the Bible.

His arrest came after it was determined that the two had conspired to get the items into the jail to him.

Prison guards said that Estes did not seem to be the religious type, and when he kept asking for the Bible that his girlfriend dropped off, they became suspicious.

Ford was charged with one count of possession of controlled substance, and one count of attempt to furnish contraband into a correctional facility. Her bond was set at $75,000.

Estes was charged with one count of conspiracy to furnish contraband into a correctional facility. His bail was set at $30,000.
