(Scroll down for video) A teenage boy admitted to shooting a girl in the back of the head because she was sending him too many Snapchat messages, according to police in Utah.

Cache County Sheriff Deputy Brian Groves testified at the 1st District juvenile court that the 16-year-old boy who pulled the trigger, told him that he became annoyed with the girl texting and contacting him through Snapchat.

The boy initially wanted to slit the girl’s throat, but then decided it would be more merciful to shoot her in the back of the head.

According to the police, two 16-year-old boys have been arrested in connection with the shooting of 14-year-old Deserae Turner.

They were both charged with aggravated attempted murder, aggravated robbery and obstruction of justice. The boys lured Turner to a canal, telling her that they will sell her a knife.

The boys then stole the girl’s iPod, phone and wallet containing $55. They then shot her in the back of the head. Turner was taken to the Primary Children’s Hospital, where she is recovering.
