(Scroll down for video) A cruel man who was sick of his dog barking, used electric tape to bound its muzzle, according to police in South Carolina.

North Charleston police said that they have arrested 43-year-old William Dodson, after being accused of abusing his dog, causing it to lost part of the tongue.

In court, Dodson pleaded guilty to one count of animal cruelty.

Judge Markley Dennis sentenced Dodson to serve 5 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, Dodson chained his dog Caitlyn, and bound its muzzle with electrical tape because it did not stop barking.

The dog was in extreme pain and managed to escape. Caitlyn was found 36 hours later in critical condition. The electric tape cut off the blood flow to the dog’s tongue.

Caitlyn required several surgeries, but doctors were unable to save part of its tongue. The dog was placed with a new family, but it is still suffering from anxiety and stress.
