(Scroll down for video) A mother is upset that her daughter was unable to be at the father-daughter dance event at her school.

Amy Peterson of Henry County, Georgia, is raising her daughter by herself and her child is being bullied in school because of it.

One child told her daughter that she does not have a father because she is fat and ugly, according to Peterson.

When it was time for the father-daughter dance event at the school, 6-year-old Gracie wanted to attend the dance even though her father is out of the picture.

Peterson was determined to take her daughter. The mother said that she watched video on how to apply mascara to the face to make it look as if she had a beard.

She also bought bigger size men’s clothes so that she looks the part.

She took photos of herself dressed as a man and her daughter in a nice white dress, and she posted them to social media.

One hour before the event, Peterson said that the principal called and told her not to attend. The principal warned Peterson that she will be turned away if she showed up with her daughter.

Peterson said that she and her daughter were very upset over the incident. Henry County Schools said that any male figure can come with the girl instead of the father.

The school said that there are other events throughout the year where everyone is invited to attend.
