(Scroll down for video) A man who did not want to became a father, decided to kill his pregnant girlfriend and set her on fire because she refused to get an abortion, according to police in Hawaii.

Maui police said that they have arrested 28-year-old Steven Capobianco, after being accused of killing 27-year-old Carly Scott, who was also known as Charli Scott.

In court, Capobianco has been found guilty of second-degree murder and arson. Judge Joseph Cardoza sentenced Capobianco to serve life in prison with the possibility of parole.

The judge recommended that Capobianco should serve a minimum of 70 years.

According to the police investigation, Scott and Capobianco were having a sexual relationship when he learned that she was pregnant and he was the father of the unborn boy.

When Scott was five months pregnant, Capobianco pressured her to have an abortion because he was not ready to settle down and be a father.

However, Scott refused. In response, Capobianco called Scott to say that his truck had broken down along a remote area of the Hana Highway.

When Scott arrived with her truck, Capobianco tortured and stabbed her 20 times in the abdomen to kill the unborn baby.

He then set her car on fire. Scott’s body has never been recovered. Investigators found her skirt that was pierced about 20 times below the waist.

Capobianco denied that he killed his pregnant girlfriend and showed no emotion during the six month long trial, Cardoza said.
