(Scroll down for video) A mother in North Carolina, was shocked to get a phone call from her daughter’s school principal, notifying her that the child was being suspended.

Brandy Miller said that her daughter, 5-year-old Caitlin, was sent home from school and suspended for a day because she picked up a stick and pointed it at another student.

The incident unfolded at the J.W. McLaughlin Elementary School. Caitlin and two other girls played king, queen and guard in the school’s playground.

Caitlin, who played the guard, found a stick on the floor and used it to simulated a gun. When a boy approached the queen, Caitlin pointed the wood at the boy.

The boy told the teacher, and Caitlin was sent to the principal’s office. As a result, the principal decided to suspend the girl.

Assistant Principal Brooke Griffie said that Catlin was suspended because she threatened to shoot and kill another student or anyone who approached the king and queen.

Hoke County school officials said that they will not tolerate assaults, threats or harassment, and Caitlin violated their policy code 4331, which states: “The board will not tolerate assaults, threats or harassment from any student.

“Any student engaging in such behavior will be removed from the classroom or school environment for as long as is necessary to provide a safe and orderly environment for learning.”
