Now, the boy has pleaded guilty to shooting his 18-year-old brother during a fight over his older brother’s girlfriend.

Dakota Thornton of Williamstown, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder over the death of his older brother Dominick.

The brothers were arguing at about 2:00 a.m., when the younger brother expressed romantic interest in Dominick’s girlfriend.

During the argument, Dakota suddenly pulled a .410-caliber shotgun and killed Dominick.

Dakota could face up to 45 years in prison for the crime. Dakota has a criminal history that includes charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, making terroristic threats and possessing a weapon on school property.

However, defense attorney Wendy Grella said that Dauphin County Judge Deborah E. Curcillo will take into consideration the suspect’s mental health issues, the fact that he was the victim of abuse while in foster care, and that he was not given his medication on the day that he committed the murder.
