American Airlines pilot dies during flight

(Scroll down for video) A medical emergency involving a pilot unfolded as his plane was about to land at an airport, according to police New Mexico.

On Wednesday afternoon, as the American Airlines flight prepared for landing at the Albuquerque International Sunport airport, the pilot fell ill and died.

According to the police investigation, American Airlines Flight 1353, which took off from Dallas-Fort Worth in Texas, was minutes before landing when the captain declared a medical emergency.

The pilot, 58-year-old William Grubbs of Lebanon, Tennessee, fell ill and died. The captain managed to land the pilot without the pilot.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.
