The family of an elderly man who died in Austria, were shocked to discover that funeral home workers have switched their loved one’s body with another dead man.

The incident unfolded in the city of Weiz, as the family of a dead 90-year-old man were at the funeral home and preparing to say their final goodbyes.

Members of the dead man asked employees to open the coffin so that they could see their loved one for the final time.

However, when the coffin was opened, they found someone else inside.

After an investigation, employees learned that the 90-year-old man was mixed up with an 86-year-old man who died three days earlier.

The 90-year-old man had been buried at a cemetery while the body of the 86-year-old man has been sent for cremation.

Workers quickly dug up the 90-year-old man and delivered him to the funeral home for cremation while the 86-year-old man was buried in the cemetery.

A spokesperson for the Koller-Adlmann funeral home apologized to the families. The error occurred because the undertaker mixed up to toe tags.

The company will implement changes to the processing system to avoid such a mishap in the future. Two workers will not be present at all times to make sure that bodies don’t get mixed up.
