A young girl who was on vacation with her family, died after inhaling fumes of a deodorant spray, according to police in the United Kingdom.

12-year-old Paige Daughtry of Shaw, was obsessed with spraying herself with Right Guard deodorant because she did not want to smell bad, according to her mother.

Dr. Jonathan Metcalfe told a court that the girl died from inhalation of volatile substances, which were present in the deodorant spray.

The incident unfolded while Daughtry was on vacation with her parents Ann, 36, and Stuart, and older sister Catherine. They spent time in a caravan at the Cala Gran holiday park, where they enjoyed the beach and outdoors.

One day, when Daughtry came back from the beach, she went into the bedroom and locked the door. She listened to music while spraying herself with a can of Right Guard deodorant.

Ann told investigators that her daughter used a lot of deodorant because she did not want to smell bad. Ann did not believe that her daughter had a problem with inhaling aerosol spray.

After several minutes, Ann called her daughter, and when she did not answer, the mother went into the room, where she found Daughtry lying face down on the bed.

Ann called 999, and Daughtry was rushed to the hospital, where she died of the volatile substances found in the deodorant.

Police officers who arrived at the scene, found an empty can of Right Guard deodorant spray near the bedroom of the caravan.
