A professor was arrested after he was caught raping a student.

The student told police that she did not know the professor before he came to give lectures at their university.

However, she agreed to host him after his appearance as a favor to her academic adviser.

According to police, 34-year-old Rafael Schincariol, a native from Brazil, was a guest speaker at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he met four students and invited them to join him for drinks.

Schincariol, who works with the Organization of American States Commission for Human Rights in Washington D.C., delivered a lecture titled “Mobilizations of Youth, Artists and Collectives in Brazil,” at the university.

He, the victim and her friends drank a lot of alcohol and tequila.

At about 2:30 a.m., the victim texted her live-in boyfriend and told him that she was too intoxicated to drive and that she got a ride home from Schincariol.

When the boyfriend returned home from his night shift job at 6:00 a.m., he found his girlfriend’s clothes all over the living room floor.

He then found the professor on top of her as they were having sex in the master bedroom. The boyfriend escorted the professor out of his home and he called police.

The man told police that his girlfriend’s behavior “was out of character,” and she seemed “very dazed” and “highly intoxicated.”

The woman did not remember much of the night. However, she said that she did not consent to the sexual encounter.

After an interview with the professor, police arrested him on third-degree rape charges. Magistrate Commissioner Jonathan Friedman set bond at $25,000.
