A man was hit in the head with a hammer on a New York City train after telling a commuter to stop manspreading on a seat, according to police.
The New York Police Department said that they are looking to arrest the suspects who beat a 30-year-old man and a 53-year-old man, following an argument about the way someone was sitting.
After the attack, the suspects fled from the scene.
According to the police investigation, the two victims boarded the train and were looking for an empty seat. When the 53-year-old man noticed a commuter taking up to seats by spreading his legs, he asked him to move over.
When the Queens-bound J train pulled into the Bowery station in Manhattan on Friday around 6:00 p.m., an argument broke out as the commuter wanted to continue his manspreading.
The commuter then started kicking the 53-year-old man in the face and abdomen. The commuter’s six friends then joined in the fight.
When the 30-year-old victim tried to stop the attack, he was hit in the head with a hammer.
The victims were rushed to the Beth Israel Hospital, where they were treated for injuries that were not considered life threatening.
