(Scroll down for video) A grandmother took her grandson along on a shopping trip and used him to help her shoplift before blaming him for her actions.

54-year-old Beverly J. Seay of Florida, was shopping at the Lake City mall with her grandson.

She picked items that she wanted, placed them into her shopping cart and removed the hangers.

According to Lake City police, the woman told her 11-year-old grandson to hide the hangers underneath some racks.

Police said that the child looked around to see if anyone was watching, and he then placed the hangers where his grandmother instructed him to.

Seay then placed all the items from the shopping cart into her purse and she went to exit the store. Loss Prevention employees saw the bulging bag and demanded she open it.

Seay took all the items out of her purse and she walked out of the store. The store employees called police after they recovered $130 worth of goods.

When she was detained, Seay denied wrongdoing and blamed her 11-year-old grandson for the theft, according to the police report.

Seay, who has two prior arrests for theft, was charged with third-offense felony shoplifting and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
