(Scroll down for video) A woman who wanted to eat fresh spinach, was shocked to find a live scorpion in the bag she bought at a Giant Food supermarket in Maryland.

Sri Sindhusha Boddapati of Landover, said that she bought the Giant Food brand spinach bag from the Giant Food supermarket in Chevy Chase on Friday.

When she wanted to eat some spinach in the afternoon, she noticed something crawling in the bag.

At first, Boddapati thought it was a cricket, but when she placed the creature into a clear plastic water bottle, she realized that it was a scorpion.

She took a video of the scorpion and sent it to her husband, Shanmukha Pranay Rajeev Jerripothula. Jerripothula took the bottle to the Giant Food supermarket, and showed it to the manager.

He warned the manager to stop selling the washed bags of spinach before someone gets hurt. The store removed all the spinach bags from the shelves, pending an investigation.

Giant Food apologized to the woman, saying that they “regret any inconvenience caused to our customer.”
