(Scroll down for video) A woman said that she hated herself and was unable to look herself in the mirror since she was raped by her older brother.

Now, Kathryn “Katie” Bailey addressed her brother James, 31, in a Syracuse, New York, courtroom.

Kathryn, who is now 23 years old, cried in court as she told her brother how he hurt her.

Kathryn said that she was devastated when her brother refused to take responsibility for raping her every week for four years from when she was 9 years old until she was 12.

During the trial, James was asked what the first word was that came to his head when he thought about his relationship with his sister Katie. He responded: “curiosity.”

He also blamed his actions on his substance and alcohol abuse, which he said came after he was abused by his father.

According to court records, the rape began when James, who was 17 years old, was left to care for his younger sister because their mother worked long hours and their father traveled frequently for his job.

James turned down a plea deal of 13 to 15 years in jail that would have spared his sister from reliving her trauma by testifying at his trial.

James was sentenced to 32 years in prison. A judge order him not to have contact with Katie.
