A man died in a freak accident after getting beheaded while driving his motorcycle, according to police in California.

The San Bernardino Police Department said that a chain of events led to the beheading of 27-year-old Fabian Zepeda.

On Tuesday around 9:00 a.m., a man driving a Ford Taurus, lost control of his vehicle and hit a mailbox. The car drove through a yard of a house and hit a wooden utility pole, causing the wires to hang low in the road.

Moments later, Zepeda, who was driving his motorcycle, drove into the wires. Zepeda was beheaded and knocked off his motorcycle.

He died instantly. The driver of the Taurus remained at the scene, and did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

So far, no charges have been filed. Zepeda’s wife launched a GoFundMe campaign to help with funeral expenses.

“My name is Vanessa Quintana, I am Fabian’s wife, writing his story. Fabian Zepeda was a loving son, husband, brother, and friend. He was the most caring, loving, family orientated unique individual who always managed to care for others before himself.

“Fabian and I met in 2012. He was my boyfriend for 5 years. We married in June 2016. In January 2017, we found out that we were expecting our first child.

“I am now 4 months pregnant with our baby girl. I am very happy to keep a little blessing from my husband. On April 11, 2017, my husband suffered from a fatal motorcycle accident, caused by a chain of events from a car collision, which lead to his final moments on earth with me,” Quintana wrote on GoFundMe.
