A fire truck that was heading to Canada, bursts into flames and suffered damages while stopped at a toll booth in New York.

The Liverpool Fire Department said that on Friday at approximately 9:50 a.m., they received a call about the fire truck on fire at the I90 & I81 interchange/toll booth.

Firefighters who arrived at the scene, encountered a Tiller Fire Truck fully engulfed in flames at the cabin area. The firefighters immediately requested mutual aid units to respond due to the anticipated need for more water resources.

Additional units arrived and deployed a hand-line to begin extinguishing the fire on the Tiller Fire Truck, and a second line worked to protect and extinguish two Chevrolet Impala cars and the Thruway office building.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation with the Onondaga County FIU.

“We would like to thank Moyers Corners Fire Department, Hinsdale Fire Department, Mattydale Fire Department, NYS Thruway Authority, New York State Police, NYS DEC, & the multiple towing/rigging agencies that were on scene to assist us,” the Liverpool Fire Department said in a statement.

The Tiller Fire Truck was out of service and was formerly owned by the Kansas City Fire Department. The truck was being transported to Canada, to be placed in service by another fire department.
