Woman who ran into police station to escape attacker shot dead after officers failed to protect her

(Scroll down for video) The family members of a woman who was shot dead inside a police station, is demanding justice, claiming that officers ignored her plight and failed to protect her from an attacker.

The incident unfolded on Monday night, in Uttar Pradesh, India.

Members of two families argued with one another at a market, over a long standing dispute on a plot of land.

During the arguments, a man pulled out a gun and threatened a woman. The woman panicked and ran towards a nearby police station.

The woman, who was identified as Aneesa, managed to enter the police station unharmed, but her attacker followed her inside.

The woman screamed for help, but the officers ignored her plight. The attacker then shot the woman at point blank range. The woman died at the scene.

According to the police investigation, a large angry crowd stormed into the police station along with the shooter, and officers were outnumbered and therefore, they were unable to help the woman.

So far, police have arrested 11 people in connection with the shooting. The woman’s family members claim that police simply let her get shot.

Police are investigating the officers, and said that if anyone failed to protect the woman, they will face a charge of negligence.
