A woman chose to lie to her best friend so that he can die in peace.

75-year-old Michael Garland Elliott died peacefully in his home after his former wife lied to him and said that President Donald Trump had been impeached.

Teresa Elliott was divorced from Michael, but she said that they were best friends and she wanted him to die on peace so she decided to tell him the one thing that would “bring him much comfort,” she said.

Teresa described Michael as a “news junkie,” who often voiced his dislike of the President of the United States.

According to his obituary, Michael’s health had declined over the years and he recently died of congestive heart failure “surrounded by those who loved him.”

Teresa wanted her former husband to leave this world smiling, and she accomplished it by lying to him. “The last thing she said to him was Donald Trump has been impeached,” the obituary states.

“Upon hearing that, he took his final, gentle breath, his earthly work concluded. Mike will be forever missed but never forgotten,” it read.
