(Scroll down for video) A suicidal police officer called his colleagues and claimed that he was shot during a drug traffic stop.

Police in Ohio, launched a massive search on the ground and though a helicopter to find the suspects who shot the officer.

The officer was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot to the arm. After he was treated and released, the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office interviewed 37-year-old police officer Bryan Eubanks.

The officer claimed that he pulled over an off road vehicle, which he believed had a meth lab operating out of it.

Eubanks, a 15-year veteran, told police that the men inside the vehicle shot him and drove off. However, detectives said that there were discrepancies in his story.

During the intensive search, officers arrested a man for questioning. He was eventually released without charges.

When no suspects were found, detectives questioned Eubanks again, and he finally admitted that he shot himself and he made up the shooting in order to cover up his failed suicide attempt.

Eubanks was fired from his job and he may face charges for lying to police.

Sheriff Campbell said that Eubanks may have suffered a lot of stress along with health issues after he was involved in a recent murder investigation.

The officer's family said that they will focus on getting him the help he needs.
