(Scroll down for video) Police and the bomb squad were called to a courthouse after people mistook a box of dog biscuits for an explosive device, according to police in Missouri.

St. Louis police said that officers responded to the Thomas F. Eagleton U.S. Courthouse, after calls came in about a suspicious package that was seen in a grassy area on Wednesday around 7:30 a.m.

Police secured the area of the courthouse located on 10th Street, and the bomb squad handled the suspicious package.

After carefully handling the suspicious box, police learned that it contained nothing more than dog biscuits, which someone left behind.

Police launched an investigation into the incident, but they do not believe that the person behind the box of dog biscuits acted with criminal intent.
