There has been a lot of unrest in Venezuela in recent months, as people were left without jobs and food.

Now, many more people have lost their livelihoods after the government has seized the General Motors (GM) car plant.

GM, which has its headquarters in Detroit, Michigan, announced that it has halted operations in Venezuela, after authorities took over their factory.

The plant was confiscated in what GM called an “illegal judicial seizure of its assets.”

GM said in a statement that all of their assets, including their vehicles, were taken out of the plant, “causing irreparable damage.”

GM said that its plant was taken illegally and it will defend itself in court as they trust that justice will finally prevail. GM has about 2,700 workers. They also have 79 dealers who employ 3,900.
