Consumers in the United Kingdom, were shocked to learn that some Morrisons string beans contained sharp needles, putting them at risk of serious injuries or death.
Morrisons has announced that as a precautionary measure, they are recalling Morrisons Trimmed Beans 170 grams packages as there is a very small risk that some packs may contain pieces of metal.
The company is asking all customers who have bought packages with a date up to and including April 24th, not to consume them and to return the string beans to their nearest Morrisons store, where they will receive a full refund.
“We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety,” the company said in a statement.
The recall was issued after two consumers found long needles embedded in their string beans. Margaret Lynch, 49, bought the item in Glasgow, and Sarah Parry got the beans in Manchester.
The store in Manchester, offered the customer $6 in compensation.
