A man of New York, pretended to be a good Samaritan when he offered to help a woman carry her items to her home.

However, once he was inside, he raped the woman before forcing her to take a bath, and wash the sheets and her clothes to remove evidence. He then left.

Now, 31-year-old Darrell Kinard of the Bronx, was convicted by a jury of the rape and he was sentenced to 65 years to life in prison.

Prosecutors said that Kinard saw a 64-year-old carrying a plant and he offered to carry it up to her apartment in Brownsville.

When they walked into her apartment, Kinard attacked the woman. He raped her in her living room and in her bedroom.

Kinard was arrested after police recovered his DNA from the scene.

Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Vincent Del Giudice sentenced Kinard to 65 years to life in prison because he was considered a predator.

Kinard has a prior conviction for which he was designated a Level 3 sex offender.

“This depraved, brutal and calculated attack on a senior citizen in the sanctity of her home justifies the lengthy sentence he received today,” Acting Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said.
