(Scroll down for video) Neighbors were shocked to witness a dog turn on its owner and viciously killing her.

The dog owner was attacked and killed by her 3-year-old pit bull boxer mix in the Upper Macungie Township in Pennsylvania.

Police were called to the home after neighbors unsuccessfully attempted to stop the dog attack.

32-year-old Lisa Green was on the deck in her backyard when her dog suddenly turned on her and viciously bit her all over her body.

Neighbor who heard Green’s cries for help, tried to lure the dog away from her with ham, but the dog was not interested in the meat.

Someone tried beating the dog with a stick, but the dog managed to grab the stick.

When Green’s neighbor, David Rachman, who is the chief of the Slatington Police Department, arrived and shot the dog in the leg, it finally let go of her.

Rachman said that the dog “flipped her head up, grabbed her by the throat and then thrashed around,” before being shot.

The attack occurred after 1:20 p.m. on Thursday in the 900 block of Spring White Drive. Green was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The dog was taken to the Lehigh County Humane Society to be euthanized.
