A man who loved climbing mountains, died after falling from a mountain in a freak accident.

Famous climber 41-year-old Ueli Steck of Switzerland, was killed near Mount Everest in Nepal, after slipping and falling.

Steck had obtained climbing permits for the expedition of Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Nuptse, which stand beside Mt. Everest.

Steck climbed solo, but his expedition was overseen by Seven Summit Treks.

Sherpa Mingma of the Seven Summit Treks who had been managing Steck’s climb, said that Steck, who was also known as Swiss Machine, fell 3,280 feet down the mountain, causing his body to break into bits and pieces on the rough terrain.

His body parts were recovered and will be airlifted to Switzerland.
