An angry mob beat two teens to death after believing that they wanted to steal cows, according to police in India.

Assam police said that the incident occurred on Sunday in the town of Nagon.

According to the police investigation, when several men saw the two teens walking among cows, they believed that they were trying to steal the animals.

The men alerted neighboring residents, and a large crowd gathered at the scene. The two victims were then restrained as the crowd armed themselves with sticks and stones.

The crowd then beat the victims with the sticks and stones until they fell unconscious. By the time police arrived at the scene, it was too late.

The angry mob quickly disbursed, and the two victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The victims were identified as 18-year-old Abu Hanif and 18-year-old Reaz Uddin. Police have filed murder charges against those who beat the victims, but so far, no arrests have been made.
