(Scroll down for video) A teacher who admitted to having sex with a special education student, blamed her drug addiction for her despicable behavior, according to police in Pennsylvania.

Philadelphia police said that they have arrested 33-year-old Stephanie Amato, after being accused of having sex with her 14-year-old student in her parents’ home.

In court, the school teacher pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with a student, child endangerment and corruption of minors.

Judge Jeffrey Minehart sentenced the woman to serve up to 23 months in prison. She must also register as a sex offender.

According to the police investigation, Amato was a teacher at the Ethan Allen Elementary School. Amato also admitted to doing heroin everyday, clouding her judgement.

During a court appearance, Amato told the judge that the heroin caused her to have sex with the special education student.

According to the criminal complaint, Amato had sex with the student multiple times, including in her parents’ home.

Investigators found the boy's DNA on the couch of the home belonging to Amato’s parents. Amato asked a judge to be lenient with her, saying that she has to take care of her baby son.

In addition to the prison sentence, Amato will also be put on ten years probation and was banned from having any contact with children.
