(Scroll down for video) Police in Massachusetts, are investigating as to how an armed man was able to get into a highly secured luxury home and kill the residents.

Boston police were called to the home at 8:45 p.m., after Dr. Richard Field, 49, sent a text message to a friend, saying that he needed help as an armed man was in his home.

When officers arrived to the home, they were confronted by 30-year-old Bampumim Teixeira, who shot in their direction.

Luckily, the bullet did not hurt any of the officers. Officers returned fire, injuring the suspect.

Teixeira, who had recently been released from prison after serving 9 months for robbing two banks, was taken to a hospital, where he is being treated.

Officers then found the bodies of Dr. Field and his fiancee, Dr. Lina Bolanos, 38. Both had their throats slit.

The motive for the killings is still unknown, but police said that the couple and their killer likely knew one another.

The couple lived in a $1.9 million 11th floor penthouse of a highly secured building.
