A bartender was surprised when a police officer in Austria, gave him a ticket for burping in public.

27-year-old Edin Mehic hired a lawyer to fight his $75 ticket for breaching the peace after unleashing a few burps near a police officer.

Mehic said that he was in Vienna’s famous Prater Park, when he became hungry and ordered a spicy kebab with a lot of onions.
After eating the onion caused him to burp.

The 27-year-old man said that he suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder.

When he turned around, he came face to face with a police officer. He asked the officer what he had done, and the officer replied that he was being cited for “public decency violation.”

Mehic wrote on Facebook, that he had a long discussion with the officer and asked him “why he wasn’t picking up real criminals who were consuming and selling drugs. That didn’t get us very far.”

His lawyer, Heinz Robathin, took the matter before a judge who dismissed the fine.

The judge ruled that there was not enough evidence to prove that Mehic burped in front of the officer.
