(Scroll down for video) Doctors in Thailand, are trying to raise awareness about the importance of getting Pap smears.

However, many women seem to be too shy to undergo the invasive procedure.

One hospital in the Kamphaeng Phet Province, offered free Pap smears to women.

In order to combat the embarrassment issue, medical professionals at the Nong Krot Hospital, came up with a unique idea.

They began an initiative called “The Mask Pap Smear,” in which the hospital provides masks to hide the identities of patients who are shy about getting gynecological exams.

The project was targeted at women between 30 and 70 years old.

Patients received full face masks while doctors and nurses got eyes masks.

The initiative seemed to be a great success. Governor Suwan Supakijchareon said that many women showed up to get free Pap smears as they were more comfortable now that they were able to wear a mask and didn’t see their faces.
