The nighttime commute on a busy road came to a standstill after a beaver decided to block traffic, according to police in Canada.

Barrie police said that they had to arrest the beaver after it refused to move off the middle of the road and allow traffic to pass.

The incident unfolded on Friday around 9:30 p.m.

Police were called to the scene after people reported that drivers were refusing to run over the beaver that lied in the middle of the road.

Officers who arrived at the scene, tried to coax the beaver to move off the road. Police called the beaver “angry.” They then used their batons to get the beaver of the road.

The beaver finally walked to the side of the road, but later stopped traffic again. Animal control officers were called to the scene, and they arrested the beaver and removed it from the scene.

They later released the beaver back into the wild.
