(Scroll down for video) A woman was arrested for fatally shooting her father after she was evicted from her parents’ waterfront mansion in suburban Charleston, South Carolina.

31-year-old Brittany Simpson was unemployed and lived off her parents. The couple wanted Brittany to move out of their home, but she refused.

Robert James Simpson, 66, of Mount Pleasant, and his wife Susan, went to court and asked the judge to have their daughter evicted from their home.

The judge agreed and Brittany was given an eviction notice. However, she did not leave without a violent fight.

Brittany’s sister called police after waking up to shots being fired in their home at 38 Saturday Road.

Brittany insisted that an intruder broke into their home through the backdoor and shot their father several times in the chest.

However, a neighbor reported seeing a woman running towards the water on the family’s property before running back into the victim’s home minutes before police arrived.

Divers were called to the seen and they found the weapon, a 9mm pistol, and a green bag containing a pink T-shirt and Nike shorts, which according to court documents is the clothes that Brittany wore before her father was shot dead.

Brittany was arrested and charged with her father’s murder and possession of a firearm in a violent crime.

The family’s six-bedroom home is currently up for sale for $1.8 million.

Robert worked in the film industry and was on getting ready to retire after thirty years. He left behind his wife of thirty six years Susan and his children, Chelsea Simpson, Brooke, Taylor and Brittany.
